Default Where to level to 20?

As I've recently bought Nightfall, Factions and EotN and am planning to roll a new character (most likely an assassin) I started to wonder where I should level. Should I 1st finish Factions or should I focus on getting heroes and finishing quest in Nightfall and then continuing to EotN areas?

You should start in the campain you think is the most fun.
Faction is the shortest campain(yet fun) and Assassin is a very fun proffession to start with.
You will have leveled to 20 before half of faction is done (due to high exp-rewarded main&side quests), so dont worry about your level.
Id get to level 10, go to Eotn and fetch Vekk,Ogden, and Gwen,3 easy and great heroes.
then go back to Factions, and finish it (or do some NF quests, eotn quests meanwhile).
Dont quit just because you have to finish factions, do other stuff aswell!(dungeons, Event stuff its Wintersday now!, or other quests/missions)

People that have played for a while often do like this:
*Start a new character
*get a run to La/quest to Kaineng/lvl 10 in Kamadan
*get to Eye of the north, grab quests, then head for Gunnar's Hold.
*Do Kilroy Quest chain, and Obtain entrance to the dungeon Fronis Irontoe's Lair
*farm dungeon (boxing, also a great and easy way to get r3 Survivor, a title, and to make some cash aswell)
*repeat untill lvl 20
*nf/faction/proph go

I hope this helped, otherwise dont hesitate to pm me ingame @ Miniature Julia

+1 Thing is once you have got level 20 heros it all becomes so much easier. You are required to be level 10 before you can travel to the north. Once at boreal station you get hero straight away. If it was me i would continue into Eye Of The North storyline and grab some quality PvE only skills from quest there before returning to Faction/Nightfall.....Reason?? .....will make it easier again.

I'd definitely recommend doing this as well, I also grab Sosuke from NF asap so I can two Ellys running SF right away on my alts (not the best setup, but still extremely strong in the three main campaigns).

Another idea I just got is rather crazy - if you only get the three from Eotn, setup Gwen as a normal mesmer (Panic / Ineptitude or PI), but use Vekk as an E/Mo infuser, and Oggen as a RoJ smiter

Monks go nuke, ellys go protter / healer! Fun.

And then I noticed that the OP is new to the game so likely wont have all the skills unlocked yet ... buy the PVP skill unlock packs

Yeah, Olle's right, I don't have many elites unlocked .
So far I've only played Prophecies.
So I only have a some Prophecies skills and elites unlocked. And having been away from the game for quite some time doesn't help much, hehe

But thank you for your help people, the tips you've given are greatly appreciated

Interesting idea on hitting level 10 then heading off to get heroes, but seems everyone forgot something.

You can't fast travel out of Factions until you have reached Kaineng Center. By then, you're almost level 20. The missions will not unlock for you until you have done them in order. There is no early leaving to get heroes.

If you plan on rolling an Assassin, you'll have to do all the entirety of the starter island before you can even leave to get heroes. And like I said, by then you'll be almost level 20. If you choose to go with Nightfall, you'll get only one hero in the beginning. You have to earn the other heroes by playing the main quest line. And again, by then, you'll be level 20 when you get the chance to finally travel to go to EotN to get the other heroes. If you choose Prophecies, you still have to go through Pre-Searing of course, then once you reach Post-Searing, you can get a run to Lion's Arch and then fast travel to get your heroes.

Either way is up to you, but do remember that you don't get instant heroes until you have met the prerequisites ahead of time. Prophecies is the easiest to get yourself heroes, as when you travel to Nightfall, you'll instantly get those level 15 heroes right off the bat and not have to worry about doing the main story to get them. And when you reach LA, you can head straight to EotN to get another three easy heroes at max level.

You could try unlock some skills doing a little PvP first, to get the feel of what kind of skills you like. Heroes are not very useful until you unlocked skills for them anyway.
Personally I suggest you actually start with Prophecies, there's a lot of skill quests along the way, and these skills will benefit your heroes as well later.

Well if you are making a Sin and thenget to mainland at KC do all the quests around there at 3k xp a pop plus take brother Toasi at KC then go to him take reward only nothing else from him then you have opened up all the quests at top of bazzar with no agro as all are set to friendly just run back and forth up there at 3k a quest also,

easy to 20 if you go this way just another option open to you if your in factions

While all the the above are good idea's if I had to start over again say on another account knowing what I know now I would be starting on Nightfall. Quick access to Kamaden and Hero's and there opening skills, then level to 10 go Eye Of The North get more heros and there opening skills then continue into EOTN using heros and hench and get PvE skills from the quests etc then go back to Nightfall and travel to Tyria and Cantha and work way through from there.

Now as others have said if you must start on a Assasin if you feel thats what you want to do then ok, get to EOTN quickly as possible (level10-20 whatever it be) then follow the above.

----------

P.S dont forget he already has skills and some elites from prophecies already.

It depends a bit upon what your goal is, but generally, I'm with Spyder on this one. If you start an Assassin, you'll have to begin on Shing Jea Island (the starter area for Factions). Under normal circumstances, you'll be at least level 17 by the time you get to the mainland, and you could easily be level 20.
So, there's no particular place you should level.
